                   sflib directory _w_o_r_l_d
          ("world" and non-Western sound sources)

This catchall directory includes sounds from various ethnic
and non-Western cultures, mostly drawn from Eastern Europe
and the near East. Many additional "ethnic" and non-Western
samples are included within several of the other sflib
directories (e.g. _g_a_m_e_l_a_n and _c_h_i_n_a_p_e_r_c). Becasuse we have
accumulated so many chordophone (stringed instrument) sam
ples from non-Western cultures, these have been consolidated
within a separate _w_o_r_l_d_s_t_r_i_n_g directory.
