Come join us for a live electronics performance/ dance party at Ithaca's haven for underground music, Pixel.

Six long years after the Odyssey nightclub shut its doors, closing the chapter on the local rave scene, locals will be treated to a taste of electronic dance music's current state in evolution with an event featuring ambassadors of the new techno sound.

Special guests, Hemiptera, will be forging a full-on Berlin-style dance party with a live performance and dj set. Hemiptera, a duo comprised of husband and wife dj team Montrealer Yanni Ehm and California native Jennifer Clemente, helped fuel San Francisco's minimal techno explosion with their signature Filter.SF parties, which featured the first U.S. performance of Japan's biggest name in techno, Fumiya Tanaka. Now on the East Coast, the two have been heavily involved in developing their own imprint on the techno genre and producing tracks through a collaboration with Quebec City producer Maxime Tanguay, label boss of experimental dance music netlabel Pertin.Nce.

Early on, the party will feature local sound artists, Misha Mross and Dave Brown, of the group, D.A.M.A.G.E., who perform live electronics using a variety equipment. Armed with synthesizers, laptops, and even a beach ball outfitted with an electronic controller, D.A.M.A.G.E. demonstrates extraordinary versatility, producing tracks in a variety of genres, including hip-hop and IDM (intelligent dance music). They have an extensive performance history, which includes performances at Google headquarters and Cornell University's Sound Art forum.

Warming up the night for these two great acts will be Ithaca's own DJ Laika, a notable and up-and-coming dj who has performed at the Lost Dog Lounge, Pixel and with the Cornell Electronic Music Collective at Level B in Collegetown. In addition, she has performed alongside the Bay Area Beat Drop Collective at the acclaimed 111 Minna art gallery, based in San Francisco.
