RYTMUS: Electronic Music Party - JAM 11/07/08

Submitted by shj28 on Tue, 2008-09-16 16:41.
9PM-1AM, the night of November 7th (a Friday). DJ Laika and I will be mixing live in the P-space in JAM (Low Rise 9). I will probably open with abstract, ambient and less dance-oriented electronic music as people settle in. After a while, the music will move on to progressive/tech house and (my favorite) minimal techno in an effort to make you nod your head, maybe move around, maybe jump a little, wave your arms, and not care about how you look. It's not as if there's some secret techno dance that everyone knows but you. I might toss a couple of things I made with Reason and Cubase into the mix as well.

So come by with an open mind and an empty wallet; it'll be FREE. FREE. There it goes, out the door and into the rapidly deteriorating climate- your last excuse not to come. Dress sharp.

If you're only interested in calm, passive listening, you want to be there for the beginning. If you only want to dance, be there as it gets later. If you want both, well, you know what to do.

Due to issues with getting an audio inteface for my Macbook, the equipment I will be using will most likely be vinyl (my true love) on two turntables, possibly with some Traktor on the side. We have some pretty sizeable speakers; bass should not be a problem. There is not much in the way of room treatment but a crowd of human bodies should work just fine.

If you have music you want to have played, especially if you made it yourself, feel free to drop me a line. If you want to mix, let's talk. If you have turntables, let's definitely talk.

Come by, it will be good. It's a program house, so no alcohol --> all ages are welcome.

Contact: Facebook me (Soren Jahan) or the even itself, RYTMUS. I'm also (hopefully) in class Tuesdays and Thursdays, the 2:55 session of 1421.
