Live: automation vs. midi mapping

Submitted by mat46 on Wed, 2006-03-01 11:07.
After having recorded some real time clip triggering and changes of levels/pans in Live, I can see the envelopes show up in the session view that I've recorded like you'd expect. But when I try to play it all back, as soon as there's a change in a control that's also mapped to a slider/knob on the Korg, the red "back to arrangement" light will come on and automation for that control will stop as soon as there's any change in its envelope value. Clicking back to arrangement will snap it back to where its supposed to be, but only until there's another change later. Envelopes that I controlled manually using the mouse automate with no probelm, and if i delete the midi mapping of my sliders and knobs, everything plays back the way it should- but it seems like there would be a way to do this without deleting your mapping every time. I tried pressing and un-pressing the "lock envelopes" button as well as disabling midi input from the korg, but none of it seemed to make any difference.

Thanks, -Mike

Interesting

I have not seen this behaviour but I will look into it. When you say that you disabled midi for the Korg, did you also disable the "Remote" setting? In Live's Preferences, Midi tab you will see the devices listed with the options:

Track Sync Remote

Make sure "Remote" is off to get the negate the faders on the Korg. Also, make sure to put it back the other way for the next user.
