Third Assignment

One of my main strategies for this assignment was to adjust the filter slowly during the long notes, and rapidly during the shorter notes. I think this pattern gave the piece a chance to "say" something, so to speak.
I think that the coolest section of the piece is when I rapidly shuffle through the different waveforms about midway through. One note here sounds like a whole progression of notes.

Tumbling Down the Rabbit Hole

This entire song is based off of one little riff I had stuck in my head. I couldn't get it out of my head until I laid it down on a track.

Enjoy,

Assignment 3

The FM made my track sound spooky...crazy spooky.

Also, certain parts reminded me of the dentist drill and made my teeth hurt while listening. I'm being completely serious.

Assignment Tres

This does not sound all that aesthetically pleasing. However, I had the same opinion of the Chowning peice. I do want to mention that my idea behind this is that I did the entire thing using one note on the keyboard. I think it really shows how flexible the instruments can be while pressing only one keyboard note, and then playing around with a few sliders here and there.

assignment 3

I tried to experiment with stuff that we learned in class.  I hope people like it.

assignment 3

This is the first time i've used Reason, so i took this assignment as an opportunity to explore the software and create some unique sounds.

Assignment 3 - Toccata

Well after a bit of messing around, I found a very nice deep almost ambient sort of sound and seeing as how Halloween is upcoming, I made a strange take on the classic Toccata & Fugue.

Assignment 3

I was inspired from chowining's pieces to create a piece that was strung together by detached sounds but that as a whole, the idea or theme from the detached sounds would all flow together. I strung together detached groups of notes in different timbre, with the violin timbre not changing and holding everything together.

my piece is called "old man's reflection". it didn't start off being this depressing... but after listening to it, it's as if you can see an 80 year old man sitting in his dark living room with a glass of wine in his  hand, thinking about life and death...

let me know what you think =]
