Assignment 3

Assignment 3.  I did experiments with freq mod and pitch in sine wave form.

assignment 3

This piece is called 'Frequency Dialects' because of the different modifications that were made on the 3 subtractors to produce various frequencies and sounds. Hope you all enjoy it!

assign 3

so what i took from chowning's piece was the "flittering" effects he had.
the small ornamentals are what i stressed

Alex Lee - Requiem II

2:38 minutes (2.41 MB)

Final results of Project 1. Took me a total of about 8 hours in the studio, done completely with the keyboard in B27B.

There are a few timing and fading issues that I didn't have time to resolve. Still turned out pretty well in the end, I think.

Enjoy!

1st Assignment

Hey guys,
I actually wrote a poem for my first assignment and I wanted to post it online for you guys to check out if you wanted. Its called "Comtemplation"

What makes us tick?
What inspires you to wake up every morning?
If you could do anything you wanted, what would you pick?

I know what I would
If I could I would do what I should
Live life to the fullest
If only I could

Inspiration
We all have obstacles
How we respond to them is what defines us
We can only work with what we have
That’s how he designed us

Contemplation
We often wonder
We often ask why
Where will we end up?
Hopefully somewhere in the sky

To fly with the birds
Knowing no limits
Moving swift as the wind
No worries
Everything below us
Not important, looking blurry

Livin my life from day
Different obstacles comin my way
Im just tryin to find my inspiration
Not to succomb to temptation
We all are here
Might as well kick back and have no fear
Inspriation

tracks on audacity

hey everybody, i was workin on the new assignment and i saw that when you paste a clip of sound onto a track it automatically goes right next to the end of whatever clip is already there. is there any way to have two seperate pieces of sound on 1 track, so that you can move them around seperately and not have 20 different tracks for all the different sounds?

unsure how to combine tracks

I have multiple tracks on my recording for my assignment, but I do not know how to combine the tracks.  Can anyone help?

My name is Bobby.

Hey, I'm bobby miller. I posted a similar introduction last year but I didn't make it into the class. Not much has changed though except for my age and my musical tastes so here it is:

I'm a senior in the arts and science school. My major is computer science and mathematics. I wish I was gutsy enough to pursue music as a major and perhaps a career. I absolutely love music, and have been playing music since I was a child. My main instrument is the piano. I took lessons in classical piano and only now am I trying to broaden my horizons by  attempting to pick up pop piano (billy joel, elton john, etc). While I was studying the piano, I picked up the trombone with my middle school's band program. I also picked up the guitar while in high school for fun. Although I don't compose much, it is pretty much my main goal as an avid music lover to write my own songs. and.....if anyone is interested (or wants to judge my musical tastes), my current top 5 favorite bands/artists are belle and sebastian, the shins, the pixies, midlake, and sufjan stevens.

I'm thrilled to be in this class and I look forward to working with and getting to know all of you at some point this semester.

Ardour multitrack editor version 2.0 released!

Wow, here it is, the first major release of Ardour (1.0 actually never made it out the door before a complete redesign, 2.0, was in the works).  I have personally watched the development of Ardour since the beginning, almost 10 years ago!  Mac and Linux users, enjoy.  Once JACK is available for Windows, MS users can also rejoice.
