Aaron Tate holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Northwestern Univeristy, an M.A. in Ancient Greek and Latin from the University of Missouri, and a Ph.D. in Classics from Cornell. Aaron’s interests range from ancient literature, linguistics, philosophy, and music to contemporary research on oral epic and lyric song traditions. Regarding the latter, he has conducted fieldwork with living epic and lyric singers in Croatia, Bosnia, and China (Inner Mongolia) and has given talks on his research at institutions throughout China, Croatia, Finland, France, and the US. When not teaching and writing in Ithaca, he divides his time between rural Missouri and the south of Italy.
