Ayo

What’s good, its Dre. I’m a communications major so like I know how to talk and things.

I was a sound engineer for about 7 years with live music so I know that side of the business. I like to sing (I have also done so professionally) and am trying out the field of voice acting. I would live to collaborate on any and everything, I am open to new music and experiences. Glad to be in the class

Shah Ahmed – Introduction

Hello, My name is Shah and I’m a senior Math and Econ major.  I don’t really have a background in music besides a music course in primary school.  I have a background in graphic design, camerawork and video editing.  Now I would like to add audio editing to my skill set.  In addition, I am currently programming a video game and would like to make simple tunes for it.  I look forward to working with several people in the class and am more than happy to collaborate and share my work.

Nicole Liang Introduction

Hi everyone,

I am Nicole, a sophomore majoring in Economics and doing minors in Business and Asian Studies. I have been playing the piano since I was three, and have tried many other instruments including the guitar, ukelele, recorder, harmonica and ocarina. However, the piano remains my one one true love. I have ventured into improvisation and composition, and am interested in both composing piano pieces and writing songs. I am looking forward to listening to everyone’s creative works and sharing mine with all of you.

Kai Keane Profile

Hi. I’m Kai Keane — an Anthropology major and Education minor.

I began playing the piano when I was six years old — I mostly played classical music until the age of fourteen when I started getting involved with jazz piano and music that involved improvisation. After I quit taking lessons around fifteen, I started experimenting with electronic / computer music with a group of friends: https://soundcloud.com/meinmusic

My girlfriend and I began producing music together my sophomore year of college — we call ourselves The Mimis — and ended up finishing an album last year: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/mimi-and-the-stone/id651698481

In this class, I hope to keep working on my skills as a producer and a musician. Specifically, I’d like to learn more about mastering process. My agenda is to produce as music during this semester.

Junghyun Eun Profile

Hi,

My name is Junghyun Eun, and I am a senior studying Computer Science. I learned electric guitar for a couple of years when I was young, and played drum for about two months. I enjoy listening to various types of music (sometimes country and rap too!). I am taking this course to learn how electronic music is made, theories behind them and how to methodically use programs to create music.

Sylvia Zhao Intro

Hey everyone! My name is Sylvia Zhao, I am a senior majoring in Chemistry and Economics. I used to play the piano but stopped after high school, so I am really excited to reconnect with music again this semester. I have always wanted to learn about music programs and composing techniques but haven’t had the chance to until now. I look forward to expanding my skill set and trying my hand at composing in this course. I would definitely be more than happy to work in groups.

Michael Ndubuisi – Introduction

Hey Everyone,

My name is Michael, and I’m a senior studying Computer Science in Engineering. I started learning to play the guitar about four years ago, which got me interested in music, right around the same time that I decided I wanted to major in CS, and I’ve been fascinated by both  ever since. This class seems to be a perfect fit for my interests, and now that I’m a senior, I finally have a chance to take it.

In addition to playing an instrument, I have also toyed around with composing and arranging music, mostly electronically, and I have a little bit of experience with a few digital audio workstations. I’ve also had the good fortune of being able to collaborate with an engineering friend of mine on a couple of independent research projects over the past year, in which we’re exploring new types of musical interfaces, and new ways of using technology to change the way people create music. The two most notable creations to come out of our research are The Aura and The FaderKeyboard .

I’m hoping to apply the skills that I’ve picked on from my past projects to this class, and hopefully learn some new things as well, and create some amazing things this semester!

Jeff Setter Introduction

Hi, my name is Jeff Setter and I am a junior in Electrical and Computer Engineering.  I play piano and violin for about 14 and 10 years respectively.  I continue to have a strong interest in music even though I am not actively on any musical groups right now.  I am particularly interested in using software in order to master and create musical pieces.  I am excited to learn and create something new in this class.

Agatha Siu Introduction

Hello, my name is Agatha Siu and a senior in Operations Research and Information Engineering. I sing regularly and I’ve played piano for about 13 years (though stopped taking lessons in high school) and guitar for about 4 years. I play weekly as a part of a praise band for an on-campus fellowship. I’ve studied music theory and music history while taking piano lessons and I’m always interested in continually learning about different aspects of music. I’ve never had a creative musical outlet in my experiences so I’m excited to try new things and definitely open to working with others!
