Musical Robot @ UVA

Hi all,

I thought this was kind of interesting... it reminded me of CEMC

PD Delay

Here's my PD delay patch (again) ...I accidentally deleted the first post, when I was trying to upload a new version of the file.

Thanks for the feedback, Suneth- I'll try that next time I'm in the studio. I actually only added that extra piece so that I could have some sound to test with while I was working in A.

Mike Tosto, 220 Intro

Hello,

This is Mike Tosto, I'm a senior in mechanical engineering, and I'm looking forward to doing and seeing/hearing all kinds of interesting new things in this class.  I've played guitar for about 10 years, but I haven't really been keeping it up so well recently, so I'm sure this will also help give me some incentive to play more in my spare time.  I was mostly self-taught, taking lessons on and off over the years, but the majority of the instruction I've had wasn't focused on the more technical aspects of music.  I never really considered myself a songwriter, mostly because I could never write any lyrics I was satisfied with.  I have "written" a few things, but because it never had lyrics and I never recorded any of it, they have all been gradually forgotten.  I've also played with a few bands (again, none recently), but none of them were too serious or lasted very long.

I have only minimal experience using digital music tools, but I'm hoping to learn how to use them as a compliment to live instruments.  Since I'm so new at this, I don't really have a good sense of what kinds of things are possible (and even less of a sense for how to do them), but my main interest now is to find out what kinds of interactions are possible between the instrument and the computer, and experiment with different methods as much as I can.

See you all later,
-Mike
