Single Google Search uses 1000 machines

http://www.labnol.org/internet/search/google-query-uses-1000-machines/7433/

this is quite an incredible amount of power for one search

Google disputes it and says its not that much, but its still all incredible numbers when thinking of the totally daily searches that google processes.

the energy usage is probably much higher with the explosion of streaming music on Pandora, last.fm, and thesixtyone.  but probably video streaming in hd uses even more energy.

but I don't really know how this works but I think we need to find out

Abstract Looney Tunes intro

After watching those videos in class I had mentioned it reminded of scenes from Looney Tunes.  It was a random hodgepodge of scenes, but I think to me even though i loved Looney Tunes as I child, it always felt sorta strange and that there were elements of it, that weren't really designed for children.

This Abstract WB logo was one thing that I was reminded of when watching those videos in class:

Intro: Chethan

Hi I'm interested in medicine, landscape architecture, information science, and music.  I play the piano and trombone and have taken the intro digital music class two years ago.  The interaction between sound and image is something that I've always been keen about, but have never done anything in particular with.  Movies provide a great medium for exploring this link.  But what I find really interesting is how music and sound can alter the perception of our environment.  For example, how does the Cornell campus change when listening to different music on your iPod; or how does a city warp with different music playing the in car.

This is a website that has an interesting process for exploring such things: http://www.hereareourjourneys.com/index.html
