Hey guys,
Here’s my piece for project 1, I welcome any comments or feedback.
For anyone that’s interested, here’s where I got the sounds:
- The vocal sounds are from:
“Schopska Pesen” on Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares (1975), by the Bulgarian State Radio and Television Female Vocal Choir. - The distorted drone sounds are from some SuperCollider code (more on this below) by Nathaniel Virgo.
- I made the rest of the pitched sounds with SuperCollider.
- The percussion sounds were made by putting one of the portable sound recorders in my washing machine (not running at the time!) and banging on the lid.

SuperCollider is an audio programming language that I’ve been fooling around with. I don’t know if we’re going to talk about it in class at all, but I highly recommend checking it out if it sounds interesting. It’s free and open source, and it’s also installed on the studio computers (but not those in the computer lab). The website is here. Also, Taylan has some good resources on his page here.
