Hi everyone, here is my project 3, which I haven’t thought of a title for. I composed this multi-track piece intended for the piano, violin, cello, etc. Let me know what you guys think about it.
Hi everyone, here is my project 3, which I haven’t thought of a title for. I composed this multi-track piece intended for the piano, violin, cello, etc. Let me know what you guys think about it.
Here is my submission for Project 2:
I made it in Live with only MIDI, just like my first project. Originally I had planned on using Reason to make my instruments and playing them in Live, but I had more success finding the instruments I was looking for in Live than I did making them myself in Reason. I didn’t really like how my Project 1 came out, so this time around I focused on getting more layers of sound to add to what I already had rather than looking for ways to extend the melody. I used the vertical mode extensively; it was a big help. My biggest regret was that I should have lowered the volume on one of the tracks.

Please feel free to comment! (Attempting to beatbox while being sick definitely made me a little offbeat at times…). In addition, I’m looking for potential partners for the final project, please message me if you’re interested (I mainly beatbox and play the piano by ear). Thanks again!
I didn’t get to present this, but I would like feedback, so let me know what you think
Hey guys hope you take a listen to my first project. I played around with reverb, fading, and gating to try to get some cool sounds out of the guitar. I’m definitely open to any suggestions and comments!
Hi Everyone,
Let me know what you think of my piece, Hymn of the Forest. I composed this piano piece piano awhile ago, and I mixed in drums, wind-chimes and some other effects in it. Thank you.

Hey everybody,
I work at Cornell’s Lab of Ornithology (a big bird studies program just off campus) and my part of my job has been to upload sound files. I began realizing that some birds made fantastic sounds and could possibly edited together into a piece with harmonies, melodies, rhythms, etc. A majority of samples are unedited or lightly edited in this, my Project 1. I hope you enjoy!
This is also my first attempt at anything like this… today I heard a whole bunch of fantastic pieces from people; you know who you are and I want your feedback!
Thanks, all, for a nice day of sharing and discussion.
As a fun post-project “assignment”, please listen to the music from A Clockwork Orange (Stanley Kubrick), created using Moog Synthesizers. These pieces, like all of Carlos’s work, were meticulously constructed, “orchestrated”, and realized, sometimes note by note.
Realization of Beethoven’s 9th symphony (Movement #4):

Realization of Henry Purcell’s Music for the funeral of Queen Mary

–> Note that this video presents the version presented in the film’s introduction. It’s slightly “NSFW” and is not intended to endorse the film, just to present the music.
And the best for last, an excerpt from Timesteps.
Timesteps (original piece):

If you dig around for others, be careful, there are many “imposter” versions of these and similar pieces realized from a MIDI file with a low-quality synthesizer “presets”!
Hey,
Just wanted to share my piece for the first project. I went a little overboard with some effects towards the end, but I still think it turned out okay. Feel free to comment and let me know what you think!

Hey guys,
Here’s my piece for project 1, I welcome any comments or feedback.
For anyone that’s interested, here’s where I got the sounds:

SuperCollider is an audio programming language that I’ve been fooling around with. I don’t know if we’re going to talk about it in class at all, but I highly recommend checking it out if it sounds interesting. It’s free and open source, and it’s also installed on the studio computers (but not those in the computer lab). The website is here. Also, Taylan has some good resources on his page here.
